The Buena Vista School District includes northern Chaffee County. The district is served by one high school, one middle school, and one elementary school with a total enrollment of approximately 870 students and 75 certified staff.  Buena Vista also offers private education facilities, pre-school programs and day care providers.
   
Colorado Mountain College offers two-year transfer and vocations degrees as well as certificates of occupational proficiency on twenty different occupational specialties. Each year CMC serves the training and education needs of over 20,000 students throughout the Rocky Mountain region.
   
Shopping in the district ranges from thoroughly practical to arts and crafts. Add a great little library and a new theatre and arts complex in Salida and you will wanting for very little in Buena Vista.
